Eligibility/Permission Disclaimer
The regional Young Writers of America poetry contest is open to students, residing in the USA, enrolled in grades 3-8. All students must have parent permission to enter. To qualify, students must be entered through their teacher and/or school. Teachers are responsible for collecting and maintaining parent permission forms. As clearly stated in the contest rules, obtaining parent permission is the sole responsibility of students' teachers. It is understood that upon entry, students have submitted their parent permission forms to their teachers. We do not assume responsibility for verifying if parent permission forms have been submitted to teachers. Printable permission forms for teachers are available on this website. Please see our "Rules" page for printable parent permission forms and all additional information.
Each student may enter one original poem. Please include an original title and check for spelling errors.
By entering contest, entrants attest that their poem is their original work only.
Poems must be written on one of the following themes:
