Eligibility/Permission Disclaimer

The bi-annual Young Writers of America poetry contest is open to students, residing in the USA, enrolled in grades 3-6.  All students must have parental permission to enter.  To  qualify, students must be entered through their teacher and/or school.  Teachers are responsible for collecting and maintaining parent permission forms.  Obtaining parental permission is the sole responsibility of students' teachers.  It is understood that upon entry, students have submitted their parent permission forms to their teachers. Printable permission forms  for teachers are available on this website.  Please see our "Rules" page for additional information.


 

Each student may enter one original poem.  Please include an original title and check for spelling errors.


By entering contest, entrants attest that their poem is their original work only.

 

 

Poems must be written on one of the following themes:

 

  • The World as I See It...
  • What My Family Means to Me...
